Preface

Ramakrushna Mahavidyalaya, Darapur started in year 2000. As the college aimed at the social and complete development of students, Co-operation is started in the same year. Cooperative movement is a major tool for poverty eradication. Co-operation is in every human being as a natural tendency. But the use of co-operation for business purposes requires cooperative education. Our college is among the very few colleges where the co-operation subject is available for undergraduate courses.

This subject covers cooperative movements in England, Germany, Russia, China, Israel, Japan, Italy, and India. The curriculum includes the history of the Indian cooperative movement, the functioning of various cooperative institutes, cooperative laws, and basic knowledge of cooperative accounts and audits. This helps to provide practical and theoretical know-how about the functioning and complexity of the mechanism of cooperative institutions. The cooperative movement especially requires stakeholders with high moral values because the aim of co-operatives is not only to earn profit but to render high-level services to members and society.

The Aim of Co-operation

The study of co-operation aims to enhance students' interest in working together, starting cooperative ventures, or becoming more informed about starting cooperative institutions which cover members in a small area to start business activities. We all depend on one another. Here we refer to customers, society, and organizations. We are working towards the same goal: that students understand cooperative values and togetherness.

The Objectives of Co-operation
  • To introduce the students to the field of co-operation.
  • To create awareness among the students about resources and management of cooperative institutions.
  • To provide comprehensive knowledge of cooperative values.
  • To provide knowledge and develop skills regarding the functioning of cooperative institutions.
  • To understand cooperative laws.
  • To introduce cooperative accounting and auditing.
  • To inform about the history of cooperative movements.
